Cunningham

  • The Cunningham is a line that controls how far forward the draft of the mainsail should be. It’s a block an tackle with a cam cleat, and it attaches at one end to a deck fitting and the other end is attached to a cringle (grommet) near the foot but above the tack of the mainsail.
  • Increasing tension on the Cunningham moves the draft forward, easy the Cunningham moves the draft further back.
  • The Cunningham is attached to the main after the mainsail has been raised.
