Leaving the dock

1. lower slings until the PVC tubes are touching the water
2. while slings are lowering unhook aft sling and lower
3. crew fends off on either side of the boat to keep it centered in the slip
4. all crew check for traffic before backing
5. helm puts engine in reverse and backs out of slip
6. crew monitors each side of the boat and especially the shrouds to keep boat off the finger piers while backing
7. helm backs boat out and shifts to forward
8. crew stands by to fend off as boat moves forward and makes way
9. crew keeps an eye out for traffic
